Jeffrey T. Blue received his BS degree in Biology with a concentration in genetics and biochemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh followed by completing a MS degree in Biochemistry from Lehigh University. He has been at Merck and Co. Inc for the last 15 years and current leader of the preformulation and formulation group for Vaccines. He has played major roles in the development of lyophilization for three marketed vaccine products and worked on establishing lyophilization platforms for biologics. His expertise in this area was recently recognized by Merck when he was awarded a special achievement award for his contribution for developing a lyophilization cycle and process to successfully manufacture Zostavax®.
