AM Session: "Basic Principles of Freeze-Drying" given by Dr. Henning Gieseler and Dr. Michael Pikal. This session will cover basic principles of freeze-drying, formulation design, physicochemical characterization and corresponding analytical procedures, the freezing step, primary drying (heat & mass transfer principles, endpoint monitoring & design of primary drying), and secondary drying.
PM Session: The current stated of controlled nucleation in freeze drying, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) based Freeze Dry Microscopy, Specific Surface Area Measurements, Quality by Design, new insights into heat transfer characteristics of tubing and molded vials, and scale-up.
