Freezemobile Freeze Dryers

The Freezemobile Large Capacity Freeze Dryer is available with condenser capacities of 25 or 35 Liters. Condenser refrigeration packages of -53, -70 and -85C are available to allow configuration for a variety of solvents. A wide array of manifolds are available including stainless steel and acrylic, tree or drum manifolds, heated or unheated shelves with bulk or stoppering.

HOW TO SELECT

How to Select the Correct Freezemobile

To select the correct benchtop freeze dryer the following considerations must be made and weighed against one another:

Choose condenser size: Amount of solvent you may have in a single batch of product being processed. The amount of solvent should not exceed maximum capacity of condenser and typically a safety margin is suggested. Example: If processing product with 25 liters of solvent, although the FM25 has a maximum condenser capacity of 25 liters you should consider selecting the FM35 with the 35liter maximum capacity).

Select Temperature of Condenser: Temperature of condenser should be low enough to effectively trap the solvent in your product based on the solvents freezing point. Example: Just freezing product with water – select the ES -55C refrigeration package. If you have ethanol in your product (freezing point of -114C) the -85C option should be utilized. The ethanol will liquefy in the condenser but there may be some bypass of ethanol to the pump. Speak with your SP Scientific representative for additional suggestions and considerations when processing high vapor pressure solvents)

Configure materials based on solvents present. Water only – Acrylic or stainless steel manifold. Water & Organic Solvents – Stainless steel manifold. Water and inorganic solvents - Acrylic manifold. In cases where both organic and inorganic solvents are present we suggest a stainless steel manifold and the maximum low condenser temperature available. Example: Protein purification often has residual organic and inorganic solvents present. In cases such as this, consider a stainless steel manifold but understand that it may be attacked by the inorganic solvents in your system. Consult your SP Scientific technical sales representative for additional precautions that may be necessary when utilizing both organic and inorganic solvents.
