The BTK Bench Top K Manifold freeze dryer is available with condenser capacities of 3, 8 and 9 liters with condenser temperatures of -55, -75, -85 or -105C.  Acrylic drum and stainless steel tree type manifolds are available.  Drum manifolds may also be ordered with heated shelf inserts for occasional tray type drying.  A complete range of glassware helps the user to configure a bench top manifold system that suits their own particular needs.

HOW TO SELECT

Manifold Freeze Dryer Selection

Manifold Freeze Dryers are utilized primarily for applications where product is being dried in flasks. The advantage of a manifold system is that it allows you to add flasks, and product to be freeze dried, and remove those flasks at will vs having to process and entire batch at once. Because of the configuration of manifold freeze dryers the operator has much less control over the process parameters so manifold freeze dryers are not typically utilized to freeze dry final products but are often utilized as part of a separation process of product for future analysis or may be utilized for the long term storage of cell cultures when sealed in an ampoule.

* 24 hour ratings are for system comparison only. Any system other than pure water freeze dried in a fully optimized process will be slower.

** Although your freeze dryer may by design include materials that are not fully compatible with your solvent choices there are steps that can be taken to minimize the corrosive effect of solvents such as fast defrost cycles and wiping the system clean after use. Contact one of our freeze drying applications specialists to discuss how to maximize the life of your freeze dryer when utilizing solvents.

In order to complete your freeze dryer:

Choose a vacuum pump. Each freeze dryer has a recommended vacuum pump size. We strongly suggest that you do not oversize your vacuum pump. Often times leaky freeze dryers are compensated for with oversized pumps. The most common area for vacuum leaks on manifold systems are the product addition valves. The VirTis freeze dryers have superior product addition valves (Quik Seal Valves) that minimizes vacuum leaks and removes the requirement for a larger vacuum pump.

Consider a Bench Top Shell Bath & VirTis Flaskware: The Bench Top Shell Bath rotates flask on a slightly above horizontal access thereby coating the inside surface of the flask with frozen product, increasing the surface area of the product and thereby decreasing the freeze drying time when compared to static freezing. VirTis Flaskware is designed to withstand the rigors of freeze drying applications and a variety of sizes accommodates every flask freeze drying need.
