SP Scientific Reach-in Chambers are constructed entirely from Stainless Steel, inside and out. The Fingerprint Development Chambers are designed specifically to enable the rapid detection of clear latent prints on porous surfaces where the sequential use of DFO and Ninhydrin processes are used.

Description

Hotpack model 33FC is a high quality Temperature and Humidity Stability Chamber, built to exceed the exacting standards required for Latent Fingerprint Development following the Ninhydrin and DFO test methods. The key to successful development is to reach and accurately maintain the required parameters during the test time.

The Stability Chamber is constructed from 304 Stainless Steel, with the exterior surface painted as extra protection. The interior is unpainted allowing easy cleaning and resistance to corrosion from the aggressive atmosphere produced during the Ninhydrin Test. Each unit is supplied with 4 solid stainless steel shelves which locate into 4 pilasters, and these serve to hold the shelves rigid and bear the load of the samples being tested. There are 19 available shelf positions to allow high density testing if required. The chamber is vented at the top to allow vapors to escape to the outside or into a fume hood.

A microprocessor based PID controller allows extremely accurate temperature performance and ensures that the chamber performs well within the specified test limits. The controller also has user settable over- and under- temperature limits and audible/visual alarm systems which alert the user to events such as power interruptions. A simple 3 min/60min timer makes the unit extremely easy to set and an audible alarm indicates when the tests are complete and the samples can be released for analysis.

The key to uniformity in any Chamber is the airflow, which ensures all parts of the chamber are constantly supplied with conditioned air at the correct temperature. The Stability PLUS™  design ensures there are no hot or cold spots anywhere in the chamber and the gentle nature of the airflow ensures that any uncovered samples are not blown away or subject to forced evaporation.

The DFO Test requires samples to be held at 100°C with no humidity for one hour.

The Ninhydrin Test requires accurate control of conditions at 80°C and 65%RH, and can be completed in just three minutes! This is a huge time saving over traditional methods, as well as yielding much clearer prints than could be expected before.
